Using Sharp takes
Surface a dominant angle and contrarian perspectives on any news article, text, or URL. Write LinkedIn posts that stand out from the consensus.
What are sharp takes?
Most LinkedIn posts about a trending topic say the same thing. Sharp takes helps you find what everyone is saying (the dominant angle) and then generates contrarian angles — non-obvious perspectives that challenge the consensus without being contrarian for its own sake.
This is how you turn a "me too" reaction into a post that makes people stop scrolling.
Input modes
Navigate to "Sharp takes" from the sidebar. You can feed content in three ways:
News
Select from today's curated articles. The article title and description are used as input.
Text
Paste any text — a headline, a quote, a statement you want to challenge.
URL
Enter a web page URL and Thoth fetches the content automatically. Available on premium plans.
Understanding the results
Each generation returns:
- Dominant angle — what most people are saying or would say about this topic. Shown as context within each card.
- Contrarian angles — 2 on Free/Start plans, 4 on Grow+. Each card shows:
- A title and description of the contrarian perspective
- "Why it works" — a rationale explaining why this angle would resonate
- The dominant angle (collapsed) — so you can see what you are pushing back against
From angle to post
Each contrarian angle card has a "Write post" button. Clicking it takes you to the post generator with the contrarian angle as the topic and the dominant angle embedded as avoidance context — so the AI knows what not to write.
Saving angles
Click the bookmark icon on any angle card to save it. Saved angles appear in your Inspirations hub under the "Sharp takes" tab.
Usage quota
Sharp takes count against the same monthly ideas quota as the ideas generator. See your current usage in the sidebar.
