Writing LinkedIn posts

Master the post generation workflow: choose a model, set your preferences, use reference posts for voice matching, and produce polished drafts in seconds.

The generation flow

Navigate to "Write posts" from the sidebar. The generator has two steps:

  1. Reference post (optional) — Paste an existing LinkedIn post to let the AI match your writing voice. Thoth analyses the style, tone, and structure to make the output feel like you.
  2. Topic — Enter the subject you want to write about, or select a pre-filled topic from the news feed or ideas generator.

Click "Generate" and the post streams in real-time. You can edit the result directly in the editor before copying or saving.

Settings

You can customise generation behaviour from your profile or override settings per session in the generator:

Goal

Sets the rhetorical intent across 11 options organised in three groups: "From my experience" (share a story, share a mistake, show growth, build trust, celebrate a win), "Here's what I think" (teach, challenge an idea, establish expertise), and "Let's talk about this" (start a discussion, inspire, react). Each goal activates a different element palette that shapes the post's structure.

Post length

Choose from five length profiles: micro (200-500 chars), short (500-1000), medium (1000-1400), standard (1200-1800), and long (1500-2100). Controls how detailed and expansive the generated post will be.

AI model

Set your default model in your profile. Choose between Claude (Anthropic) and GPT (OpenAI). Premium models available on paid plans.

Footer note

An optional signature or call-to-action appended to every generated post. Configure your default in your profile.

Voice matching with reference posts

When you paste a reference post, the AI performs a voice analysis before generating. It identifies your sentence rhythm, vocabulary patterns, and structural preferences, then mirrors them in the output. This is the fastest way to get posts that sound like you.

For best results, use a reference post that represents your typical writing style — not your most unusual or experimental one.

Web search

On Grow plans and above, the AI can search the web while generating to include up-to-date statistics, examples, and references. This is particularly useful for news-driven or data-heavy topics.

Saving and managing posts

After generation, you can:

  • Edit — modify the text directly in the editor
  • Copy — copy the final text to your clipboard for pasting into LinkedIn
  • Save — save the post to your saved posts for later
  • Regenerate — generate a new version with the same settings

Tips

  • A specific topic produces better results than a vague one. Instead of "leadership", try "why micro-managing kills innovation in engineering teams".
  • Combine a reference post with a news article topic for posts that sound like you and are anchored in current events.
  • Experiment with different goals — the same topic can produce very different posts depending on whether you choose "Share a story" vs. "React" vs. "Celebrate a win".
